Irish thespian Barry Keoghan has robustly responded to vile online detractors critiquing his parenting, declaring they make him "sick" and "incensed."

In an expansive dialogue on "The Louis Theroux Podcast," the "Saltburn" luminary discussed the pernicious effects of digital harassment. He also delved into his acting journey, his childhood in foster care, and briefly touched upon his bond with songstress Sabrina Carpenter.

"People cast judgments on my parenting," Keoghan stated, who co-parents a two-year-old son, Brando, with his former partner. "Until you've lived a day in my adolescent shoes, you can't judge... There's an abundance online. If I lacked resilience or fortitude, I wouldn't be speaking here. It's inevitable it impacts me as a father without a guide to follow."

"The more I've entered the public eye, the less I've shared about my child online, given the presence of depraved individuals," he continued. "Reining in my posts has led some to fabricate tales of 'absentee father, worthless dad' and other vile accusations I won't repeat. The sheer nerve of some, it sickens and enrages me."

He mirrored these sentiments about those who scrutinize his looks, "especially on TikTok... people sit, craft videos, and critique, 'I dislike his face, he appears odd or sinister,' dissecting you entirely."

Keoghan, renowned for his Oscar-nominated role in "The Banshees of Inisherin," hails from Dublin, Ireland. He experienced life in myriad foster homes and with his grandmother due to his mother's heroin addiction. She passed when he was 12, followed by his father's demise at 15.

"I feel it's been told as a sob story," Keoghan remarked. "'Oh, bless him. His mom died... foster homes...' That's not my intention. I share it to inspire kids that regardless of origins, one can achieve ambitions and persevere."

Keoghan shared with Theroux that some childhood recollections still "haunt" him. He expressed aspirations to create a youth club in his hometown, offering "kids a chance" to explore activities like acting or boxing, otherwise inaccessible to them.

His acting breakthrough occurred at 15 or 16 when he responded to a shop's call for "actors without experience" for a minor role. This opportunity catalyzed his rise to prominence.

Speculation swirled around his relationship with Carpenter, bolstered by his feature in her "Please Please Please" music video, elevating his fame. He remained discreet about their current status, stating, "All I'll say is, I’m immensely fortunate. She's a remarkably strong, independent, and talented woman, quite special.
