Bruce Springsteen praises Jeremy Allen White's singing talent in the upcoming biopic 'Deliver Me from Nowhere'
Bruce Springsteen has been effusively commending Jeremy Allen White for his portrayal of himself in the forthcoming biopic "Deliver Me from Nowhere." The iconic musician recently joined Jim Rotolo on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio, where he recounted the slightly surreal experience of witnessing an actor embody his persona. Initially, it felt “a little bit” odd to see someone “pretend” to be him.
However, Springsteen quickly moved past that feeling, thanks to White's outstanding acting prowess. “Jeremy is such a remarkable actor that you just get immersed in it,” Springsteen remarked. “His interpretation of me is something the fans will undoubtedly recognize, and he’s done an exceptional job.” The Boss also mentioned the enjoyment he derives from visiting the set whenever possible.
Springsteen expressed his admiration for the "Bear" actor's vocal talent, noting White’s ability to emulate his unique singing style. “His singing is impressive,” he commented. “He sings exceptionally well.”
The biopic takes inspiration from Warren Zanes’ book "Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska," chronicling Springsteen’s journey during the creation of his 1982 album. Following the enormous success of "The River," "Nebraska" signified a pivotal moment in Springsteen's life, one he only openly discussed years after its release. Recorded on a cassette in his bedroom, the album notably lacked the accompaniment of Springsteen’s signature E Street Band, as detailed in Zanes’ book synopsis.
Directed by Scott Cooper, the film commenced production in October. The cast includes Jeremy Strong, Odessa Young, David Krumholtz, Gaby Hoffman, Stephen Graham, and Paul Walter Hauser, among others. “It’s an incredible ensemble,” Springsteen told Rotolo. “They’ve cast the film beautifully, making it very exciting.
