Cameron Diaz discovers a compelling reason to make her return to acting after ten years
Cameron Diaz is making a comeback. Her latest endeavor, aptly named "Back In Action," marks her return to the screen alongside Jamie Foxx. After a decade-long hiatus, this Netflix project heralds her re-entry into the cinematic world.
Diaz revealed the catalyst behind her return during her recent visit to "The Graham Norton Show." She attributed her comeback to Foxx's influence. "I spent 10 years not focusing on the industry," she confessed. "I wasn't entertaining any offers until this script landed, and I realized it might be time."
Diaz expressed admiration for her co-star, stating, "If I were to step away from my family for long hours, it had to be with the most gifted person in showbiz." Their camaraderie isn't new; they previously joined forces in "Any Given Sunday" (1999) and "Annie" (2014).
Diaz, who initially graced the fashion world before becoming a staple in films like "There’s Something About Mary," didn't idle during her break. Alongside being a devoted spouse and mother (she and her husband, musician Benji Madden, have two children), she's thrived as an author and entrepreneur.
Reflecting on her sabbatical, she remarked, "Those years were cherished for my family and me. However, I pondered, 'If I abandon this opportunity, if I don't re-engage, I'd be remiss.'"
Her enthusiasm for the film industry is palpable. "Filmmaking is a privilege, and we're fortunate to pursue this path," she shared on the show. "The fact that I could step back into this world after a decade is astounding.
