Demi Moore Earns Her First Acting Award: 'I'm Absolutely Stunned'
Demi Moore has now clinched her inaugural Golden Globe. On Sunday, she triumphed in the category of best female actor in a film—musical or comedy—thanks to her exceptional performance in "The Substance."
"I genuinely didn’t see this coming. I’m utterly dazed," Moore confessed while accepting the award. "I’ve been in this industry for over 45 years, and this marks my first acting accolade. I’m profoundly humbled and grateful."
At 62, Moore reminisced about a conversation with a producer three decades ago, who labeled her a "popcorn actress." "Back then, I internalized that label, believing it precluded me from achieving this," she admitted. "I accepted that notion, and over time, it eroded me to the extent that a few years back, I contemplated if my journey had concluded."
She revealed that the script for "The Substance" arrived during a particularly low ebb in her life.
"Then, this enchanting, audacious, outlandish script titled ‘The Substance’ landed on my desk," Moore elaborated, "and it was as if the universe was telling me my journey wasn’t over."
Moore's family and friends celebrated her victory, sharing a jubilant video of their reaction on Instagram, declaring, "She did it!"
"The Substance," penned and directed by France's Coralie Fargeat, is a feminist allegory offering a stark caution against the relentless pursuit of youth.
"I want to leave you with a thought from the film," Moore remarked. "In those times when we doubt our intelligence, beauty, slimness, success, or simply our sufficiency: a woman once told me, 'You'll never be enough, but you can understand your true worth if you abandon the measuring stick.
