Dolly Parton is on a quest to find Dolly Parton. The legendary country singer announced on Thursday that auditions are now underway for a new Broadway production titled “Dolly: an Original Musical.”

In a heartfelt video message, Parton extended an invitation: “I’m on the hunt for Dolly. Whether you're a small-town dreamer or a seasoned performer with a history on stages nationwide, here’s your chance to help me tell my story on Broadway and perhaps even embody me.”

The production’s website mentions a search for performers of diverse ages to depict Dolly throughout her remarkable life. “This is your opportunity to infuse your unique rhinestone flair into a role of a lifetime,” the site proclaims. “Are you ready to fill the shoes of a legend?”

Parton, at 78, emphasized in her video, “This show is a tribute to my music, my life, and all the incredible individuals who have journeyed with me.” She expressed a desire for talented individuals who can encapsulate the essence of her path, whether they are seasoned theater veterans or hidden talents with that elusive special quality.

A select number of candidates will have the privilege to audition live for the casting director. Interested individuals can submit their applications via the show's website.

"Dolly: an Original Musical" will feature music and lyrics penned by Parton herself, with a script co-written by her and Maria S. Schlatter. The musical's website lists Bartlett Sher as the director.
