Eva Longoria Continues to Profit from 'John Wick'
Eva Longoria is garnering accolades for her pivotal role in bringing the "John Wick" saga to life. Initially, she admits, she was unaware of the significance of her actions. In a conversation with Business Insider, Longoria recounted her investment in the 2014 blockbuster when the production faced a financial shortfall before filming commenced. Co-director Chad Stahelski revealed that both co-director David Leitch and leading man Keanu Reeves had personally contributed funds. Producer Basil Iwanyk even reached the limit on three credit cards to ensure the revenge-thriller saw the light of day. Stahelski credited Longoria by saying she "stepped in heroically, providing the necessary funds just under 24 hours before we would have had to abandon the project." The talent agency CAA, responsible for assembling the financing, had extended investment opportunities to some of their clients. "My financial experience was in its infancy, and I was dealing with a substantial sum, asking, 'How does this work?'" Longoria confessed. "Claiming to be a financial whiz who meticulously calculated risks would be false. None of that was true." She corroborated the CAA narrative, saying, "An agent, not even mine, reached out and suggested, 'You have funds, consider investing here.'" Longoria admitted, "I didn't grasp the concept of gap financing at the time." This foray sparked a zeal in her, leading to the production of various projects. She continues to reap monetary rewards from that initial foray. "My husband, acquainted with the Lionsgate chief, occasionally hears, 'We sent Eva a check this week,'" she recounted. "Yet the true masterminds were Chad, David, and Keanu. My role was simply signing the check.
