Macaulay Culkin's Son Believes He's Kevin from 'Home Alone' and It's Absolutely Adorable
Macaulay Culkin's young son is experiencing what can only be described as an endearing identity quandary.
His son, Dakota, shared with fiancée Brenda Song, has not only viewed his father's cherished '90s holiday film "Home Alone," but he’s convinced he is, in fact, Culkin's iconic character, Kevin McCallister.
"He believes he's Kevin," Macaulay shared with E! News in an interview released Thursday, noting that his son genuinely thinks he, like McCallister in the movie, sledded down the stairs, sports blonde locks, and personally "fended off the burglars."
At that juncture, Culkin felt compelled to humorously confront his son, playfully accusing him of being "a lying liar who lies. That was me!"
Culkin took on the role of Kevin in "Home Alone" when he was merely seven years old. The film, released in 1990, has since attained classic status and inspired subsequent sequels.
The storyline follows a boy accidentally left by his parents during a holiday trip. Initially, it's all fun games until McCallister must ingeniously thwart home invaders.
The ensemble cast features Joe Pesci, Catherine O’Hara, Daniel Stern, and John Heard, among others.
"Home Alone" has become emblematic of the Christmas season, a notion Culkin initially resisted but is now slowly beginning to accept.
"It's quite unusual to have something that defines a significant day, and I’m part of that," he remarked. "It's more enjoyable to embrace it than to oppose it.
