Megan Moroney becomes emotional as she receives the new artist award at the CMAs
Megan Moroney clinched the new artist of the year accolade at the CMA Awards on Wednesday evening. The country songstress was visibly emotional, striving to contain her tears.
During her acceptance speech, Moroney expressed gratitude to her fans, acknowledging them as "a significant reason why I am standing here today."
"Their unwavering support, the way they cherish my music, create signs and t-shirts, and stand outside the venue from 3am—it truly astounds me," Moroney remarked. "This award holds immense meaning for me."
She extended heartfelt appreciation to her producer, Kristian Bush of Sugarland fame, who collaborated with her on her albums "Lucky" and "Am I Okay?" Their partnership is marked by a nostalgic full-circle moment.
"Thank you for allowing me to be your intern at the University of Georgia all those years ago," she expressed.
Moroney's inaugural album "Lucky" was released last year. Her follow-up album, "Am I Okay?" launched in July, soared to the No. 9 position on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The CMA Awards unfolded Wednesday night at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, where Moroney also delivered a performance of the lead single from her album, "Am I Okay?"
Moroney received three CMA nominations and secured one win.
