Michelle Buteau dreams of meeting Lenny Kravitz and has an adorable message for him in case they don't cross paths.
Michelle Buteau, the comedian and star of "Babes," is still basking in the excitement of having rock legend Lenny Kravitz follow her on Instagram. Though she's attended his concerts multiple times, their paths haven't crossed in person yet. However, this might change at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards, where Buteau will assume hosting duties.
In a recent chat with CNN, Buteau was tight-lipped about potentially meeting Kravitz during the awards, despite him not being nominated this year. With a sly grin, she teased, "I can’t confirm or deny."
In this week's preview of her Netflix stand-up special, "Michelle Buteau: A Buteau-ful Mind," she shared a humorous anecdote about her husband organizing a celebration when they discovered the "American Woman" artist had followed her. When Kravitz continued to engage with her posts, her husband jokingly asked, "Do I gotta worry about Lenny Kravitz?" To which she humorously replied, "Yes, you do," drawing laughter and applause from the audience.
Buteau, a renowned stand-up comedian, actress, and podcast host, is recognized for her role in "Babes" alongside Ilana Glazer and the Netflix series "Survival of the Thickest," which announced its second season in July 2023. Her debut Netflix special, "Welcome to Buteaupia," premiered in 2020, and her upcoming special, "A Buteau-ful Mind," releasing on New Year's Eve, marks the first time a female comic will record a special at Radio City Music Hall.
For now, Buteau is focusing on her role as host of the Billboard Music Awards, promising an event teeming with exuberance. "It's freewheeling, sassy, classy, and incredibly fun," she remarked. "Feeling celebrated is essential, and that's what we deliver. That's why I cherish hosting events like the Billboard Music Awards; music unites us."
Top contenders for the esteemed Top Artist award include Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, and Sabrina Carpenter, with performances from artists like Shaboozey, Coldplay, Jelly Roll, Linkin Park, and Tyla. Whether Kravitz makes an appearance remains uncertain, but Buteau has a message for him regardless. "Dear Lenny," she expressed, "Thank you for the joy and love you infuse into your work. We all resonate with it... and then some."
The Billboard Music Awards will be broadcast on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on FOX.
