Morgan Wallen conceded to two misdemeanor reckless endangerment charges on Thursday, following his April arrest for hurling a chair off a Nashville rooftop bar, as court documents reveal. These records, obtained by CNN, indicate that Wallen entered a plea under a deferral, which means the charges could be erased upon fulfilling his sentence and probation obligations.

His legal counsel, Worrick Robinson, IV, conveyed in a statement to CNN that Wallen appeared in a Davidson County courthouse, submitting a conditional plea under Tennessee’s Diversion Statute that avoids a formal conviction.

The agreement with the District Attorney's Office mandates Wallen to attend a DUI Education Center for a week, remain on probation for two years—one for each misdemeanor of reckless endangerment—and pay a $350 fine along with court fees. Successful completion of probation may lead to dismissal and expungement of charges.

Robinson further stated Wallen has been entirely cooperative with authorities over the past eight months, maintaining open communication and expressing remorse. Wallen remains devoted to contributing positively through his music and charitable efforts.

Records indicate that an additional charge of reckless endangerment and a disorderly conduct count were dismissed. Wallen's April arrest stemmed from allegations of three felony reckless endangerment counts and one misdemeanor disorderly conduct for "throwing a chair from the rooftop of Chief’s Bar," as per a statement from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on X.

An affidavit obtained by CNN affiliate WTVF detailed that several Metro Nashville police officers were present outside the bar when a chair plummeted from above, narrowly missing them. Bar staffers identified Wallen as the individual who launched the chair from the sixth-floor establishment.

Surveillance footage depicted Wallen "lunging" and "propelling an object over the edge," with witnesses testifying they observed him laughing post-incident. His bail was established at $15,250, and Robinson had confirmed his full cooperation with the authorities.

Wallen, a Grammy-nominated country artist, was embroiled in controversy in 2021 for being captured on video using a racial epithet. His record label suspended his contract, and several radio stations temporarily ceased playing his music. He subsequently apologized. Wallen has achieved three No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was honored as the 2024 Artist of the Year at the recent CMA Awards.
