In a charming twist, both Booysen and Donaldson donned coordinated MrBeast-themed holiday sweaters in a video Booysen shared on her Instagram, showcasing her sparkling diamond engagement ring. These festive ensembles perfectly encapsulated the moment, as Booysen recounted to People magazine in an interview published Wednesday. Donaldson popped the question on Christmas Day amidst their families' presence.
"My family traveled from South Africa for Christmas, and we planned to celebrate at our home, so both families were present," Booysen shared with the publication. "We were exchanging gifts, and for the final present, he asked me to close my eyes for a surprise." Overcome with joy, Booysen "of course" accepted, expressing her immense excitement.
The couple's paths first crossed through a mutual acquaintance in 2022 in South Africa, Booysen's homeland. "When we first met, Thea's brilliance was immediately apparent," Donaldson remarked. "Within moments, I knew I wanted the chance to date her. Fortunately, she felt a profound connection too."
