Neil Young returns to Glastonbury music festival after 'information error' corrected
Neil Young has clarified the situation surrounding his slated performance at Glastonbury 2025. The iconic artist addressed fans through his blog, affirming his participation in the renowned UK festival after previously stating he had withdrawn. "An error in the information led me to decide against performing at Glastonbury, a festival I've always cherished," Young expressed. "Fortunately, we are now back on track and look forward to the show! Hope to see you there." He concluded his message with the signature "Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts," without detailing the misinformation received.
Earlier this month, the "Heart of Gold" legend revealed on the same platform that the initial withdrawal was due to conditions imposed by the festival's corporate ally, the BBC. "The Chrome Hearts and I were excited about Glastonbury, among my favorite outdoor venues," Young explained. "We were informed that the BBC, now a festival partner, had specific demands we found unappealing. It appears Glastonbury has succumbed to corporate influence, unlike how I remember it."
Young further declared, "We will not play Glastonbury this tour as it no longer aligns with my values." He did not specify the exact requests that led to his initial decision to cancel. Glastonbury, a monumental UK music festival since 1970, will unfold from June 25-29, 2025, at Worthy Farm in southwestern England. As of Friday, the festival's website confirms Young as a headliner, alongside Sir Rod Stewart. CNN’s Alli Rosenbloom contributed to this report.
