Nick Cannon has candidly addressed his recent diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder, admitting, "I need assistance." The "Masked Singer" host disclosed on a podcast earlier in the month that he had been "clinically diagnosed" with this mental health condition. Now, he expresses acceptance of the diagnosis, utilizing it as a catalyst for self-improvement.

In a conversation with People, Cannon commented, "I still don’t fully comprehend it, but I always felt compelled to be tested for it." On Wednesday, while participating in meal service at the Los Angeles Mission's Thanksgiving event for the homeless, he elaborated: "I perceive countless labels exist, but to embrace one and declare, 'I'm healing. I need assistance. Guide me,' is empowering. I hold mental health and therapy in high regard."

Cannon continued, "Being an example for others while undergoing personal healing is significant." Individuals with narcissistic personality disorder possess "an exaggerated sense of self-importance," leading them to crave excessive attention, as stated by the Mayo Clinic. The disorder, typically managed through therapy, can create "challenges in various life facets," including interpersonal relationships, career, and financial matters, according to the clinic's website.

The father of twelve initially disclosed his diagnosis during an episode of his podcast, "Counsel Culture." In the episode, which debuted on November 8, he informed psychologist Cheyenne Bryant of his clinical diagnosis. He remarked, "It's a spectrum, beginning with confidence, progressing to overconfidence, arrogance, and eventually crossing into narcissism. Markers are present."

Cannon acknowledged identifying with all these so-called markers, except for lack of empathy and anger. As per the Mayo Clinic, additional markers or symptoms include exploiting others for personal gain, harboring feelings of superiority, looking down on others, and struggling with emotional and behavioral regulation.

Cannon further stated, "I've been endeavoring to address it personally with the help of numerous therapists." He added, "I've demystified the term narcissism through research and understanding." In his separate dialogue with People, Cannon shared that Thanksgiving gives him the opportunity to connect with all his children. "It's quite intricate. Thanksgiving is a busy day for me," he remarked.
