Gayle King received an extraordinary birthday surprise orchestrated by her dear friend Oprah Winfrey this past Saturday. King, who is approaching her 70th birthday, believed she was attending a holiday gathering for one of Winfrey's enterprises, only to find herself stepping into a surprise event at New York City's Ci Siamo restaurant. The moment was captured and shared on her Instagram.

As the "CBS Mornings" host entered, she tossed her clutch onto the bar, her expression one of astonishment, as her loved ones and friends yelled "surprise!" Her entourage included luminaries such as Katy Perry, Stephen Colbert, Angela Bassett, Jeff Bezos, Brooke Shields, Andy Cohen, and several others.

Winfrey delivered an emotional speech, commemorating King's birthday and reflecting on a significant milestone they will both soon reach. "Next year signifies half a century of our friendship," Winfrey declared in a recorded excerpt of her speech. "For 50 years, we've been in harmony, steadfastly supporting one another, always hoping for the best for each other."

The media titan extolled King as the singular person in her life who has consistently rejoiced in her successes and declared that "the joy Gayle brings makes the world a better place."

The celebration featured a magnificent four-tiered cake adorned with sparklers, while DJ Suss One set the tone for the evening as the master of ceremonies.

In a heartfelt address to her guests, King expressed her disbelief and gratitude. "I can't fathom you orchestrated this; I can't believe you all gathered for me," she said. "I'm utterly overwhelmed by those who took the time to be here... I'm deeply thankful. Thank you immensely. I truly feel the love.
