Pamela Anderson reveals that embracing beauty, glamour, and aging was integral to her preparation for 'The Last Showgirl'
Pamela Anderson describes her journey preparing for "The Last Showgirl" as profoundly intimate. She featured on Tuesday's installment of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” with Mikey Madison from "Anora," sharing how her entire life was a canvas for her portrayal in the Gia Coppola-helmed film.
Anderson revealed, "I drew heavily from my personal experiences, my long journey with beauty, glamour, aging, and reevaluating life decisions." She emphasized the emotional groundwork she laid. "I infused this role with my entire life," she remarked.
In "The Last Showgirl," Anderson embodies Shelly, a Las Vegas showgirl confronting her future after her show's unexpected closure following a 30-year stint. The ensemble cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd.
During the Variety dialogue, Anderson reflected on her sons, Brandon and Dylan Lee, whom she shares with ex-husband Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe fame. She admitted that the project prompted reflections on how her life impacted her sons, witnessing their mother being "sexualized in some fashion."
"Many experiences I faced were unknowingly shared by my kids," she confessed. She mentioned that she frequently discusses these matters with her now-adult sons, seeking amends. "But now, we're a solid unit," she affirmed.
For her performance in "The Last Showgirl," Anderson attained her inaugural Golden Globe nomination.
In Tuesday's conversation, the "Baywatch" icon expressed her commitment to savoring the present, despite the role triggering self-reflection. "I don't regret my life. I don't regret my choices, though in hindsight, I might have opted differently. Life experience teaches you that," Anderson reflected.
She added, "Now, I feel unencumbered, no longer preoccupied with relationships or family concerns. My children are grown. I'm liberated. I can embrace play once more.
