Rashida Jones pays homage to her father, the illustrious Quincy Jones, who passed away at 91. On Thursday, she shared a nostalgic photo of herself as an infant, cradled by her father, on Instagram. Her caption was a heartfelt tribute.

The "Parks and Recreation" star reflected on her father’s status as an icon, a "culture shifter," and a "genius." She emphasized that these descriptions, though fitting, only scratch the surface of his essence. His music, and indeed all his work, was a conduit for his boundless love.

"He embodied love," she expressed. "He made everyone he encountered feel cherished and acknowledged. That’s the legacy he leaves behind." Rashida felt privileged to have experienced this love up close.

She also fondly recalled her childhood nights. She would often stumble upon him late in the night, engrossed in composing with pen and sheet music.

"He never sent me back to bed," she reminisced. "Instead, he embraced me while continuing his work. It was the safest haven imaginable."

Quincy Jones departed this life on Sunday at his Bel Air residence, surrounded by his children and family. His publicist relayed this to CNN. His daughter Rashida was born from his union with Peggy Lipton, his spouse from 1974 to 1990.

The elder Jones was celebrated not only as a jazz and pop virtuoso but also as a versatile composer, arranger, conductor, record executive, and civil rights champion.

His entertainment career was a tapestry of remarkable achievements. He scored the Oscar-winning "In the Heat of the Night," produced Michael Jackson’s monumental "Thriller," and united stars for the iconic "We Are the World" charity single in 1985.
